The Depot (200 S. Jones) will be hosting the closing exhibit of The Western Art of Lauri Ketchum in their North room. They will also be opening an exhibit in their South room featuring the visual art of local musicians including: Katie Williams, Josh Polaschek, Clare Costello, Lacy Saunders, Gregg Standridge and Tim Gregory. Native Spirits wine will be provided.
D.M. Wealth Management (309 E. Main) opens its doors and features work by Moore-based artist Soni Parsons. Parsons works in acrylic and mixed media and is a registered art therapist. They will also feature Frank Lawrence as their musical guest.
Gallery 123 (123 E. Main, above Syrup) will host the Norman Area Quilting Guild, who will be displaying a raffle quilt. The quilt pattern is “Alaska.” Raffle proceeds will support this local guild’s ongoing projects including providing quilts to four community agencies.
Gallery 123 also wants to promote their up and coming Artist — DeAun Olive — whose paintings include landscapes and florals. DeAun has perfected the technique of watercolor on canvas that is protected and can be hung without glass.
All the Gallery 123 artists welcome you during April art walk and have been creating new and intriguing pieces including one-of-a-kind jewelry, assemblages, glass works, wood and stone sculptures, unique photographic works, acrylic wall paintings, and many small items perfect for gifts.
Gray Owl Coffee (223 E Gray) opens late for all your pick-me-up needs. They also feature Fragment, showcasing the work of painter Kylie Anderson.
Legally Brewed (123 W. Main) is excited to continue to highlight the vibrant portraits of pop culture figures and icons of Matthew R. Paden through May in its taproom!
The Lore (220 S. Porter) celebrates its grand opening weekend during 2nd Friday Norman Art Walk! The new downtown book store will feature a small market of vendors and giveaways from 6 to 8 p.m.
Magic Sad (120 E. Tonhawa) is showing an ongoing exploration of soil as pigment entitles Range of Home by artist and owner Ruth Loveland
Main Street Photo-Video (131 N. Porter) features the work of its founder John Thomas. Thomas has been attending (sometimes performing) and taking pictures of the Norman Music Festival since it began in 2008. A large collection of prints from the many years of the festival will be on display inside the lobby. Prints will be for sale and all proceeds will be donated to the Norman Music Festival.
MAINSITE Contemporary Art (122 E. Main) is honored to host the annual OU MFA Thesis Exhibition. Each year, MFA finalists have presented their thesis work at MAINSITE, inviting the public to see what they have created during their time at the University of Oklahoma. This year includes the work of Cody Wilson and David Morrison. MAINSITE will also feature some work and stories by young artists affected by Norman Arts’ Arts Education Scholarships program in the Library Gallery.
NCom Cyberhall (916 W. Main) continues its After the Art Walk party, starting at 9 p.m. and running until midnight! They feature the artwork of Marissa Steinhofer and the music of Kim Cedar Song and Jance and Rafi of The Nobodies. Music begins at 10 p.m.
Norman Regional Primary Care Clinic (119 E. Main) is featuring Joel Willcox and Diane Peppler at their clinic on Main. Jodi Wood Artisans, LLC, founded by Joel and Diane, embodies a shared passion for crafting exquisite pieces from sustainably sourced wood, primarily harvested in Norman and central Oklahoma. With Joel and Diane’s backgrounds as a Healers at Norman Regional for 41 and 20 years, respectively, their commitment to wellness extends to their craft, where they aim to enrich spaces with the natural beauty of wood.
Their diverse range of handcrafted products, from whimsical creatures to turned bowls, cutting boards, bespoke dining tables, and now, they proudly introduce their "Make and Take" wood wind chimes kit. Each kit provides the materials and instructions for creating your own charming wind chimes, allowing buyers to connect with the craft on a deeper level. Opolis (113 N. Crawford) are hosting a karaoke after party for OSC-Press’ bootleg show that evening after 9 p.m. that will be free to attend all night!
OSC-Press (315 E. Main) will host the 2nd Edition of the The Bootleg Show! This group exhibition showcases the art of the bootleg and the comforting power that can come from creating new work via channels of familiarity and nostalgia. Featured artists include: Tyler Krasowski, Skewed Press, Rai Fordyce, Lauren Panichelli, Jenna Bryan, Jared Power and more! There will be a drawing station set up for visitors to make their own bootleg creations and live t-shirt printing of featured bootleg designs. Opolis will host a Karaoke After Party starting at 9 p.m.!
Resonator Institute (325 E. Main) welcomes a pair of spectacular Texas-based print artists. We Live Through Time is a collection of drawings, collages, and prints by Cassie Normandy White and Ryan O’Malley. This phrase is intended to precede the title of each work in order to view them through different lenses; to intertwine contemplations of time from a cosmic, geological or genealogical scale to a moment, or a breath. It alludes to the scope of creative process and the commonalties of our collective lived experience.
White is Assistant Professor of Art at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. Utilizing print, drawing, and collage, her work expresses curiosity and appreciation for the interconnectedness of the natural world.
O’Malley is Professor of Art and Graduate Coordinator at Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi. As an artist, educator and member of the Outlaw Printmakers, his work has been featured in numerous exhibitions, publications, and collections.
Sandalwood & Sage (322 E. Main) will host musical guest Ladies at Play. Join them for an evening of live music featuring Celtic Reels and English Country Dance during 2nd Friday Art Walk.
SCRATCH Kitchen & Cocktails (132 W. Main) features the art of Tim Gregory in the basement bar. Most in Norman know him for his work in music as guitarist in Oklahoma psych-rock favorite Helen Kelter Skelter, as well as indie rock act Labrys and as an instructor at Norman Music Institute. But Gregory’s had a longtime passion for visual arts that he has recently reinvigorated and grown to match that for performing arts, showcasing his art at The Depot, MAINSITE Contemporary Art and more.
Sergio’s Italian Bistro (104 E. Gray) hosts live music from Desiree Abba from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
STASH (412 E. Main) will host Amanda Cole. Cole is an abstract landscape painter currently living in Yukon, Oklahoma. She grew up in an artistic home where her father taught her the joys of coloring in the lines at an early age. She has always seen life in full, vibrant color and paints the same way. Amanda’s current body of work is focused on breaking down landscapes into unique and colorful spaces. Her process is methodical as she moves through a piece. Every painting begins with a quick sketch to map out the perfect steadiness between pencil strokes. The colors chosen have no limits as she explores the palette. Her work is well thought out and balanced, often leaving a calming effect with the viewer.
Studio JBerg (229 E. Main) is hosting Kaci King-Hoppman as their quarterly rotating artist for April through June.
Uncanny Alley (121 E. Main) will be hosting a free limited live performance with singer-songwriter Beau Jennings! The gallery will feature work from OKC illustrator and mural artist Sean Vali and photography from Austin-based Okie transplant Ben Lindesmith and their in-house crew of Jesse Edgar, Dylan Johnson, and Chase Spivey. Refreshments provided for all ages.
UP Together Venue (428 E. Main) is open with The Mother Earth Group Artist Showcase, featuring the works of 6 local artists: Shan Mayes, Gemma Brown, Destiny Harris, Lottie Jay, Tara McLean-Dickins and Jamie Leigh. Each work focuses on subjects such as: sustainability, nature conservation, humanity, and community. Most pieces in this show are fabricated with recyclable and repurposed materials. They''ll have live music throughout the evening, as well as a few local vendors to shop from.
